Dear Owners,
May arrived with a thunderstorm and torrential rain after which the temperatures climbed and we saw some sunshine although the weather has still been mixed.
The painting of block 7 is completed and block 6 is now underway. There are some areas in blocks 8 and 7 which need to be tidied up and as soon as we get 3 painters back this will be done. We were down to one painter for much of May as they had to go and finish other jobs which had been delayed by bad weather but we should be back on track very shortly.
Work carried out this month has included repairs to the garage door of block 6, repair to a major leak caused by a broken pipe in the water storage area and to a leaking pipe in the garage of block 3.
All the sunbeds have been jet washed, the motor to the small pool at pool 1 has been fixed and the heat pump ventilator fan at pool 2 was replaced at a cost of just under 1,000 euros just in time for us to turn the heat pumps off! Sam, who looks after our pools, will now be in attendance 6 days per week until the end of the summer season. He will periodically start the heat pumps to hopefully ensure they are working fine when we need them in the winter. The collector valve in pool 1 is split and some sand is leaking into the main pool. Work to replace the valve will be carried out shortly – this is also another costly job as it requires the bathroom floor to be broken to gain access to the valve.
We suffered some loss of English TV channels which Pacheco worked on for 3 days to restore. He also put 2 new amplifiers in block 8.
Our insurance claim to replace our emergency lighting system was denied. We continue to strive to save costs wherever possible and Carlos sourced a new company to collect our garden waste which is slightly cheaper than the company we were using. Gerardo also engaged a company to look at our electricity costs and on their recommendation we have changed supplier and we estimate a saving of around 1000 euros per year.
The animal faeces problem has moved from block 2 to block 9 and we may need to think about installing a camera to discover the culprit.
Finally, you should have all been notified that the 2018 AGM will be held at the Hotel Tamisa Golf on Friday 16 November which gives those who need to plenty of time to organise their flights to attend this fun-filled annual event!
