Dear Owners,
Well March was a challenging month and brought with it things that you couldn’t make up! It began with the small pool 2 being filled after repair only to promptly empty itself again meaning the problem was not in the area we believed it to be. Then the ‘calima’ arrived – strong winds and torrential rain filled with Saharan sand, which lasted for days and which coloured everything orange including our freshly painted community. I’ve had lots of discussions about how best to deal with the problem and there is no simple solution. It’s looking like we will need to get the painting company back to clean everything because if we attempt to do it ourselves the guarantee we have with the paint company will be voided. It is also a huge logistical problem to access all the areas and the painters have the scaffolding which will be needed plus the insurance cover that goes with using that equipment. I’m currently negotiating what that will cost and as soon as a final decision is reached I will let you know.
The ‘calima’ has left the swimming pools in a dreadful state. We have had to be patient and use a lot of chlorine to deal with the sand and wait until it settles at the bottom of the pools so it can then be hoovered. Hopefully by Easter the pools will be back in pristine condition.
On the 10 March our concierge Juanjo had a nasty accident when he fell off his hoverboard at high speed. He is currently signed off work. We engaged a lovely young man called Adrian to cover for Juanjo. Unfortunately last weekend Adrian lost two family members on the same day so he is currently off work. I have to say that Cristobal, Sam and Jose Luis (who is covering for the other Cristobal who had a motorbike accident last year) have been fantastic in covering the shifts at very short notice and giving up their rest days.
Some positive work was done – a new spotlight was installed at the main entrance, missing bulbs in the garden lights were all replaced, garage door 1 was fixed and the remote controls for block 3 were re-programmed after the memory was lost. We have also put up 20kph speed signs around the community as requested at the last AGM which will hopefully encourage everyone to drive slowly.
